Literature of the Nonprofit Sector: A Bibliography With Abstracts
Located in the Researching Philanthropy section of the Foundation Center's vast array of web pages, this bibliographic database contains over 20,600 citations of the contents of the Foundation Center's five satellite libraries. Approximately 13,400 of these citations have abstracts. Topics covered include all aspects of fundraising, foundations, corporate giving, nonprofit management, pr0posal development, and more.

Academic Centers Focusing on the Study of Philanthropy
A list of programs throughout the U.S. offering study and training in all areas of philanthropy. Site is maintained by the Independent Sector.
Chronicle of Philanthropy: Guide to Continuing Education
A site of the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Programs are categorized into Distance Learning, Fund Raising, Graduate,Managing, and Noncredit.
Indiana University Center on Philanthropy

Association of Fundraising Professionals
Information on available courses in fundraising and leadership. Check the chapter directory for local chapters nearest you. Most sponsor seminars and programs which are pertinent and of interest to nonprofit organizations in their areas.
The Virtual Classroom of the Learning Lab section of the Foundation Center's vast web pages have online tutorials as well as an offering of formal training programs in the areas of the funding research process, proposal writing, grantseeking on the web, developing a fundraising plan, and related topics." Formal training programs outside the New York headquarters and at its five satellite libraries throughout the United States are also included (see link to Training Schedules). However, local Cooperating Collections also may have programs of interest. A Los Angeles-based organization which provides program planning, proposal writing, and fundraising training for members of the nonprofit sector. Their excellent programs are held in cities throughout the United States on a regular basis. Includes links to other useful resources.
Institute for Policy Studies: Nonprofit Training Programs
Workshops are held in the evening in the Washington D.C. area by SALSA, the Social Action and Leadership School for Activists. They include money matters, communications, organizational development, policy, starting a successful nonprofit cyber activism, and more.
National Center for Nonprofit Boards
The NCNB "provides training, education, and consulting services at the local, regional and national levels." Consult the Consulting and Training link for specifics.

A searchable database in the Resources section locates topics and issues relating to nonprofit organizations and the independent sector. Maintained by Idealist, a project of Action Without Borders.
The INC's Classified List of Key Texts is an excellent annotated reading list which includes basic philanthropy background reading, and other topics such as history, fund-raising and giving, management, and international and religious philanthropy.
