CAF International

The international arm of the Charities Aid Foundation. CAF "aims to support the growth and development of small and medium-sized charities through [their] grant programme as well as provide consultancy to assist charities in developing new income streams or broadening existing ones."

CharitiesDirect.com

Includes a database on charities in the United Kingdom, searchable by name, rank, aim, and more. Other aspects of the site include publications on the state of philanthropy and giving in the UK Maintained by CaritasData, a London-based financial specialist publisher.

Charity Village

Proclaiming to be "Canada's supersite for the nonprofit sector" with Canadian Information Sources and Grant-Giving Foundations sites. There is a link to the International Relief/Development/Peace list, and a category for an International Directories and Resources for Nonprofits listing by geographic area.

Chronicle of Philanthropy Deadlines

Allows searching for upcoming grant opportunities, including those for International category for programs and projects.

Democracy Resource Center's Grants Program

Over 100 organizations listed which provide funding for international democratic development. A site of the National Endowment for Democracy, Washington, D.C.

Directory of Development Organizations

Directory "lists 47,500 organizations that offer financial support, market access, information and advice to the enterprise and poverty-reducing sectors throughout the world." Divided into six geographical sections and nine categories of organizational types, including grantmakers, microfinance institutions (marked m), NGOs, international organizations, and more.. Eurasia Foundation

Provides assistance to the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union to "build democratic and free market institutions."

European Foundation Centre

The site for the EFC, which exists for "promoting foundations and corporate citizenship in the New Europe." Includes the Funders Online database, as well as these online publications:

Provides two searchable funding databases for New Zealand nonprofits accessible by subscription. Also includes news items and an online magazine.

Funders Network on Trade and Globalization

Fundsnet Services Online: International Grants

A listing of "International initiatives, international foundations (non-U.S.-based), and other foundation directories on the Web." Funders from Canada, Australia, and the U.S. are in a separate listing. Being updated early 2006.

IndianNGOs

An organization which promotes and provides information on key social and developmental issues in India. Includes all kinds of useful information and resources for Indian nonprofits, plus lists of UN, International, Indian, Corporate, Statewise, and Issue-wise funding agencies. Some information is subscriber-based.

International Grants Resources (Deborah Kluge)

An outstanding and well-maintained list of international grantmakers and resources. Includes annotations. Deborah Kluge is a professional international business and grant consultant..

International Human Rights Funders Group

International Research and Exchanges Board

An organization offering a huge array of academic exchange assistance and fellowship programs between scholars in the United States and those within the Newly Independent States, Central and Eastern Europe, Mongolia, and China. PovertyFighters Links (Microfinance, Microlending categories)

Information from an online community of individuals and companies which seek to reduce poverty in the world by providing financing and loans to small businesses throughout the world.

Slovenska Akademicka Informacna Agentura/Slovak Academic Information Agency (SAIA)

The SAIA (Service Center for the Third Sector) collects and distributes information about and for nonprofit organizations in Slovakian regions. Includes a database of 1600 Slovak NGOs. Also provides a link to the International Student's Guide.

Southern Africa Institute of Fundraising

A member-based organization for fund raising professionals. See the Useful Links site for affiliations and networks (SangoNet, GANGOCO, Thembalitsha Foundation, etc.) which can be useful contacts for grantseekers.

Terra Viva

This organization gathers and disseminates information about grants for agriculture, energy, environment, and natural resources of interest to those NGOs in the world's developing countries.

United States International Grantmaking (Requires free registration)

A site of the Council on Foundations maintained primarily for grantmakers, this site provides some resources for grantseekers as well.

Soros Foundations Network: Open Society Institute

Provides access to a network of programs and initiatives of nonprofit organizations and foundations created by the philanthropist, Geroge Soros. They are autonomous organizations linked together as "national foundations" in 30 countries - mostly in Eastern and Central Europe, Central Eurasia, and the former Soviet Union, as well as in Haiti and South Africa - sharing the common mission of supporting the development of an open society. Synergos Institute
