Anonymous Fund

Contact the current Dean of the University of Wisconsin College of Letters and Science. Note: UW-Madison Committee listing will give names of Anonymous Fund committee members.

ASM: Associated Students of Madison

See sections under ASM Services, which will have synopses and applications for Operations, Event, and Travel grants and general tips on getting funding. This is also the site of the General Student Service Fund. Both categories offer funding for student organizations, and there are links to some non-ASM funding sites.

Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission

Described as an agency of the Dane County government, to "encourage public participation in arts and historical activities; to increase community access to the cultural resources of Dane County; and to forge working alliances between public and private sectors in support of the arts."

Evjue Foundation/Capital Times

Preference in funding is given to organizations for projects "responding to overall community needs and priorities and which do not duplicate existing services," particularly in the Madison area. Guidelines, policy, applications, and other information is available at this site.

Humanistic Trust Fund(Foundation Committee)

Contact the current Dean of the University of Wisconsin College of Letters and Science. Note: UW-Madison Committee listing will give names of Humanistic Foundation Committee members.

Knapp (Kemper K.) Bequest Grants

Grants between $500.00 to $5,000.00 are for programs that "cross departmental lines and have an impact on the educational and cultural life of the university community, particularly projects that benefit undergraduate students. Registered student organizations are encouraged to apply, but departmental/program co-sponsorship is required." Madison Arts Commission

An agency of the city of Madison government designed to foster the arts. Programs include BLINK: Temporary Public Art Opportunities; ArtWORKS! community-based arts education program for diverse, under-served youth; Signature and Project grants.

Madison Community Foundation

Provides funding to area individuals and organizations in the following areas of interest: arts and culture, economic and community development, the environment, the elderly, families, learning, youth, and a fund for women. Grant applications and guidelines, plus "success stories" can be found in this site.

New Harvest Foundation

A nonprofit advocacy group which raises and distributes funding to gay, lesbian, and bisexual causes, particularly in the Dane County area. Web Access: http://www.newharvestfoundation.org

Madison Wisconsin Rotary Club Foundation

The local chapter of the Rotary Club, which is a service organization for business professionals, sponsor programs which increase international and local understanding among diverse groups. Check for area chapters also in the local telephone directory and other listings for Wisconsin at GuideStar (www.guidestar.org).

University of Wisconsin Arts Institute

Promotes the arts at UW-Madison, with its mission "funds and supports projects with university- and community-wide impact, including artists′ residencies, awards and fellowships, public programs, and arts marketing and outreach."

University of Wisconsin-Madison. Morgridge Center for Public Service

Its brochure states that the Center "assists groups and organizations in developing and implementing service projects," and is meant to "serve as a liaison between the University and the local community." Sponsors the Wisconsin Idea Undergraduate Fellowships for special projects involving collaborative activities among University students, faculty, and instructional staff and surrounding community organizations.

Multicultural Council Fund

Funding is available from the UW-Madison Multicultural Council to registered student organizations through its Multicultural Council Fund. The Council in turn is part of the Office of the Dean of Students and the Multicultural Student Center, which serves the following student groups: African American, American Indian, Asian American, Chicano and Puerto Rican.

University of Wisconsin-Madison. Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies Program. Nave Visiting Lecturer Program

Described as "small grants for speakers and other events pertaining to Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Iberian peninsula, and enriching the intellectual and cultural life of the campus." Available to faculty, students, and student organizations. The maximum grant is $700.

University of Wisconsin. Secretary of the University. University Lectures Committee

The committee considers "requests for lectures of general interest that are not primarily supplementary to or extensions of programs of instruction provided by colleges, schools or departments," according to the Faculty Policies and Procedures manual. Instructions are applications can be accessed at this site.

Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB)

Mini grants are available to fund late night (10 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) alcohol free, social and/or recreational projects. Guidelines and an online application are available by accessing this site.

Wisconsin Arts Board

See Opportunities in the Arts section of this file for current Arts Board grants and programs, as well as the News section. The Site Map is very helpful for finding a list of all grantmaking programs. The Wisconsin Arts Board has provides support for artists and arts organizations with funds from the Wisconsin state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Wisconsin Community Fund

Funds organizations statewide which have programs relating to social justice issues.

Wisconsin Humanities Council

The WHC will give matching grants to organizations with programs which will "engender broad understanding of and appreciation for the humanities throughout the state."

WUD: Wisconsin Union Directorate

The WUD sponsors on-campus organizations and events by providing help, information, contacts, publicity, and other resources. Check under the various committees for particulars. Committees include Distinguished Lecture Series, Community Services, Film, Contemporary Issues, Performing Arts, Music and Entertainment, Travel, and much more.
